FAQ

WHAT IS AN INVERTER?

The inverter converts direct current generated from your PV panels into alternating current for your house load use.

Monitors and controls the performance of your PV panels and solar system.

Entec inverters supply all your needs to be self-sufficient.

HOW DOES AN INVERTER WORK?

The PV system consists of Solar modules that generate electricity from energy radiated by the Sun. The electricity produced is in the form of direct current which cannot be used directly in your household as most households use alternating current as well as the network grid. Therefore, to use the energy of the Sun, we need the inverter to convert the direct current into alternating current.

IS THE INVERTER SAFE?

Yes, the inverter is important as in contains all the necessary protection for your system and includes the following;

DC switch

DC reverse polarity protection

AC/DC surge protection

Battery reverse protection

AC short-circuit protection

Ground fault monitoring

Grid monitoring

Anti-islanding protection

Residual-current monitoring unit

Insulation resistance monitoring

WHERE IS THE INVERTER INSTALLED?

Usually installed in your cellar or garage preferably close to your grid meter. They can be installed elsewhere or even outside as they are IP65 waterproof rated.

IS THE INVERTER NOISY?

No, the inverters sold by ENTEC operate with advanced heat sink technology whereas other inverters use a fan-based cooling system which can be noisy with up to 55 decibels at peak production so they are not convenient if close to your living environment.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS I HAVE BY INSTALLING A PV SYSTEM?

Generation of electricity from the Sun on your roof or ground installation is cheaper than electricity from the grid. Your inverter will ensure maximum use of your generated solar power.

Reduced costs by using the cheapest form of energy with solar power, the Sun does not send you a monthly invoice.

You produce your own electricity independent of the markets

Reduces your ecological footprint and saves CO2

The solar power with the correct inverter can supply a back-up power supply (emergency power function) and in combination with storage batteries, power you through the night and during black-outs.

Excess solar electricity produced can be sold back to the grid thus generating an additional income for your household. Although feed-in tariffs in our opinion will fall over time, it is still good sense to make as much use of your self-generated electricity as possible.

Most inverters cannot supply a back-up power facility, however you can be assured that ENTEC inverters can provide this if requested. The choice of the right type of inverter for your use is important to meet your individual requirements.

CAN I MONITOR MY SOLAR SYSTEM?

Yes, system monitoring and/or maintenance requirements as well as system settings can easily be managed via the supplied Apps from the manufacturers via your smart phone or computer. Your electrical yields and consumption data can be monitored and checked at any time from anywhere and any location with access to the internet.

Maintenance and setting adjustments can be made remotely with these functions and faults cab be rectified easily.

IS MY SOLAR ENERGY SUSTAINABLE IN THE LONG TERM AND WHAT GUARANTEES DO I HAVE?

Yes, all ENTEC supplied solar modules, inverters and batteries have long term manufacturer warranties such as the following;

10 years on inverters

10 years on battery storage systems

10-15 years on solar module manufacture and 25-30 year on efficiency.

HOW LONG BEFORE MY SOLAR SYSTEM PAYS FOR ITSELF?

You save on energy costs from the very first day of approved operation. Your PV system, dependent on size and type, can pay back its purchase costs in less than 10 years  and often much earlier.
